THIS IS IT! WE'RE GOING NATIONAL! This weekend, October 18 and 19 is the THIRSTY FOR CHANGE lemonade weekend. The goal: to get 100 kids to set up 100 lemonade stands all over the country on either of those days. The hope is to raise $2,008 for an Obama/Biden Victory in 2008.
REGISTER YOUR THIRSTY FOR CHANGE LEMONADE STAND NOW!
HOW DO I JOIN THIRSTY FOR CHANGE? First, ask your kids if they want to set up a lemonade stand. If the answer is "yes", then email, subject, "Thirsty for Change" with the date, time and location of your stand. We will post the location of your stand here on this blog to help avoid lemonade stand overlap. If you would prefer your location to remain private, that's fine too, just let us know. Once we receive your email, we will contact you about supplies. We have cup labels to help kids tag their lemonade cups Thirsty for Change and bracelets to give out to your customers.
HOW DO I DONATE MONEY? Once you have collected your change, make your payment online HERE
(You can contribute up to something like $28,000 to the DNC's Obama Victory Fund.)
WHAT DO I DO IF I AM NOT AVAILABLE THIS WEEKEND? This is your lemonade stand, so do it whenever you can! To contribute to our aggregate goal, just be sure to make your contribution at the website above. Register your stand with us anyway so we can track how many Thirsty for Change stands go up.
WHAT IF MY KIDS ARE NOT INTO IT? Thirsty for Change is about empowering our kids, not pushing them. But if they're thirsty this weekend, go to nyckids4obama.com to find a lemonade stand nearest you!

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL LEMONADE STAND
- Location, Location, Location! Park next to a crowded spot. Soccer and football fields, parks, schools, busy sidewalks, outside your home.
- Make yummy treats and delicious lemonade! Not the baking type? Buy stuff at the store.
- Sell your wares! Lemonade is just the beginning. Make things to sell: buttons, pins, signs and more. Everyone is looking for the latest and greatest Obama fashion. Be the one to make it and sell it first.
- Don’t be shy! Decorate your stand with homemade signs, make music, cheer for Obama, have games, have a hoola hoop competition.
- Advertise! Register with nyckids4obama.com. Send an email to all of your friends. Flyer your neighborhood.
- Have fun!
The nyckids4obama kick-off was a great success. Kids came from all over the city to make signs, pins, banners, and write letters to Obama. We sent dozens of pins to battleground states, and have a bunch of posters en route to Pennsylvania this week. We also registered 20 Thirsty for Change Lemonade Stands.
A good bit of money was raised to boot! More than $2100!!
A big shout out to Daphne for delivering 400 sparkling pin kits and Alex and crew for bringing the button maker.

OMG. These pictures are beautiful and the kids involved in the movement is something I can not find words for. The overwhelming feeling of pride, joy and its kids brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful. Their future they are willing to volunteer now for. Muah. God Bless. Keep up the good.
